At long last I have settled with the utility company and been sent a settlement cheque.
Just to say it was very close to my claim, I did claim for ongoing maintenance and loss of amenity, as well as out of pocket expenses as you suggested. The settlement was quite generous and I am very pleased with it. Even though they state that they don’t accept responsibility ,why else would they give me any money? In the end the pressure from the Ombudsman helped, but I am convinced that your excellent Report tipped it in my favour.

I required an Arboriculture Specialist as I was purchasing a property with a rather large tree at the end of the garden. My research found Ben Riches to be the most qualified on the island, so I called him for some advice initially. He was very helpful and professional on the phone. About a month later when we had the offer accepted, I called him again to book an appointment in to carry out the report. He also included any questions that we had and produced a customised report. This is rare nowadays as companies have a template and stick to it.
The next issue we had was gaining access to the property. Ben called the estate agent on several different occasions, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Despite this and knowing how important the report was for the sale of the house, he attended the property and gained access by the vendor.
I am very grateful to Ben as he sped the whole process up considerably. I thoroughly recommend him and his company and would not hesitate to use him in the future should we ever require his services.
